Description
Replacement motor shaft for our 2408-21 outrunner brushless electric motor.

Steel shaft replacement for bent or damaged shafts
  • Dia:  3 mm
  • Total Length : 65 mm
  • Threaded length : 22 mm
  • Unthreaded length : 43mm

Motor Shaft Replacement Instructions:

1. Remove the motor from the stick mount.  This is done by loosening the screw that holds the motor mount shut.

2. Remove the C-clip at the rear of the motor that retains the shaft. Also remove the washer under the C-clip. Removing this little washer can be the most difficult part of disassembly, as it tends to get hung up in the C-clip groove.

3. Pull the motor bell (the outer part with the magnets) off the stator (the inner part with the wire widings). Do this by grasping the motor tube with a pliers where the firewall mount was located, and pull on the motor bell with your fingers. There will be resistance from the magnets, so it takes a little effort.

4. At this point the motor is essentially in two pieces - you have the stator with the motor windings, and the motor bell (with the magnets) attached to the shaft. Remove the flange from the motor bell by removing the retaining nut on the inside of the motor bell. The nut requires a 10mm socket. (You may find it easier to remove the nut if you remove the shaft from the flange first. To remove the shaft from the flange, loosen the two set screws on the front of the motor bell, then drive the shaft out of the flange with a hammer and small punch.)

5. Once you have the flange removed from the motor bell, simply insert the new shaft with flange, and secure with the nut on the inside of the motor.

6. Now put the motor bell (with the new shaft) back on the stator and install the washer and C-clip.

Note: The old style motor with the black nut on the front of the motor bell accepts this new style shaft and flange.
